Immigration Aid Manchester
Independent legal advice & representation from the

There are many people in Manchester who have fled from direct
and indirect violence and even torture. They cannot afford to pay
for legal representation. The Legal Services Commission (the
body responsible for funding legal advice and representation)
continues to cut back the amount of money which can be spent on
asylum cases. Many people find it difficult to get access to a
lawyer. Yet justice demands that those affected by the law should
be able to find adequate legal representation.
With proper legal representation cases can be won and our clients
can rebuild their lives knowing they will not be sent back to a life
where they are at risk of persecution. A major part of our work
consists of representing such people. We work hard to research
cases, provide full legal advice and represent in court. We are not
able to charge aspects of this work to the LSC and we have to find
the resources from elsewhere to fund what we see as essential
elements of a person’s case. There is so much more that we want
to do.
We desperately need more funds to continue to do this work. We
know that there are many people in Manchester for whom justice is
a most important value in life. Hopefully you are one of them and
will feel able to become an affiliate.
Affiliation is per year and you will receive our newsletter, get an
invitation to all our events, and be invited to participate in our
AGM. If you belong to a Trade Union or other group maybe your
organisation would like to make a donation or affiliate.
If you would like to affiliate please download the form here.
